Understanding how an idea develops into a thriving enterprise with product, customers, and employees...
Understanding how an idea develops into a thriving enterprise with product, customers, and employees is a powerful tool not just for startups but for students going to work at large companies. Through entrepreneurship students see how all of the general management functions knit together. At Stanford, practicing entrepreneurs come to most classes and explain how they tackled tough problems. Social entrepreneurship, says Stanford Graduate School of Business Dean Garth Saloner, is also a valuable driver for growth in the developing world, as it has been in Silicon Valley and the U.S. economy.
